post-apocalyptic arielle vibes 🌊🧜‍♀️🐚

I haven’t seen Avatar Way of Water & I don’t need to in order to know that 2023 will be all about aquatic everything. That & I listened to the Who? Weekly Patreon where they discussed it at length through their extremely pop-cultured lense.

But it’s not just James Cameron’s latest problematic cinematic feat or even Disney’s equally progressive Live-action remake of The Little Mermaid starring Halle Bailey who is Black (much to the chagrin of way too many people IMO.)

From global warming to entertainment to a post-pandemic desire to connect with nature across cultures, there is increasing emphasis on, fascination with, and inspiration from the ocean and all it has to offer. I have my thoughts and theories as to why this is (of course) but I’d need lots of money and time to get to really dive in.

So, until someone pays me to do a Trend Report on the Ocean (Killer Whales are out, Gray Whales are in) enjoy my Pinterest board (post-apocalyptics arielle) of how this is manifesting aesthetically.
